Fat dissolving injections used at Skin & Soul Medical Aesthetics are a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that permanantly reduces the amount of fat cells in a targeted area. The medication used is a compounded substance containing PCDC (phosphatidylcholine/deoxycholate). PCDC is a substance that is naturally occuring within the body. DC is a bile acid that is produced in the liver and assists in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
PCDC injections are a synthetic form that has been modified to be more effect at dissolving fat cells. When PCDC is injected into the targeted area, it starts to break down the membrane of fat cells. Once the membrane is broken down, the fat cells are destroyed and the body naturally eliminates them through the lymphatic system.
The most common area PCDC injections are used are the submental (under chin) area. Other areas include 'bra bulges', abdomen, flank & inner thighs.
The PCDC permanently destroys the fat cells in the targeted area. They are not able to regenerate again. However, it is important to avoid excessive weight gain as new fat cells are able to accumulate in these areas again.
