Polynucleotides are naturally occurring biopolymers made up of nucleotide units, which are the building blocks of DNA and RNA. In medical aesthetics, polynucleotides are used for their regenerative properties, particularly in skin rejuvenation.
REJURAN is composed of bio-compatible DNA fragments derived from wild salmon. These polynucleotides are slow-degrading DNA fragments that will stimulate skin regeneration and repair damaged skin whilst reducing unwanted inflammation.
Polynucleotides (Rejuran) are suitable for people whose concerns include;
- Dark eye circles or under eye crepiness/thin skin
- Fine facial lines/wrinkles
- Sensitive and thin skin
- Acne scars, stretch marks
- Sagging skin
- Uneven skin texture
Rejuran works by activating your skins own regenerative ability to restore collagen structure and increase skin elasticity.
A course of 3 treatments with intervals of 2-4 weeks between each treatment session is recommended. This can then be followed by a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months to maintain and nurture a healthy skin condition.
Side effects include;
- minor redness or itching
- Small visible lumps from injection sites (subsiding within 1-2 days)
- Minor flaking, dryness and peeling can occur
Risks (rare)
- Allergic Reaction
- Infection
Results from Rejuran treatments typically become noticeable within a few weeks, as the polynucleotides stimulate collagen production and skin renewal processes. Many patients report improved skin texture, hydration, and elasticity after the first treatment, with optimal results often seen after a series of sessions. Continued improvement can be expected for several months following the treatment as the skin continues to heal and regenerate.
Rejuran treatments are generally well tolerated- topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment with good effect. Pain is very subjective, however, and other pain relief modalities are utilised at Skin & Soul should a patient be finding the treatment difficult to tolerate.
Before your Rejuran treatment, it’s advisable to avoid blood thinners (if approved by your GP/specialist), alcohol, and excessive sun exposure for at least 48 hours. This helps minimize the risk of bruising and swelling. After the treatment, patients should avoid strenuous exercise, hot baths, and direct sun exposure for a few days to allow the skin to recover properly.
